AL Connecting People to Services (1)

The problem:

People living with disabilities and their family members throughout the state of Alabama often express concerns about not knowing about waivers, services, and or resources in their particular communities.

Action:

ACDD collaborated with ADMH and other agencies to maintain up-to-date waiver information, including eligibility requirements, the services offered in each region, and statewide services.  ACDD developed resource folders to connect individuals and families with resources throughout the state.   The resource folders are distributed both electronically and in hard copy.

Results:

Through the Council’s collaboration, we reached and connected 458 families with resources from December 2025 to February 2026.  At every conference, we have provided information, and people ask for resource folders.  One individual indicated that she does not know what she would have done without the resource folder.  She shares it everywhere she goes.

Unique role of the Council:

The Council’s relationship with key service agencies and our ability to connect with those who need the information are key to making sure information flows and updates are made.
